Welcome to Stepping Through Care

A Personal Welcome from Dr. Val

I created Stepping Through Care because I have witnessed so many people faithfully care for the ones they love while quietly dismissing how they truly feel.

Caregivers often carry more than physical responsibility. They carry exhaustion, worry, sadness, and a form of grief as they watch someone they love struggle with changes in their body, mind, or spirit. They are trying to meet that person’s needs, show them love, and avoid making them feel like a burden—all while managing emotions they may never share with anyone else.

If that describes you, I want you to hear me today: it is all right to admit that you are tired.

You need time to renew your mind, refresh your heart, and restore your spirit. Taking time for yourself does not mean you have stopped loving the person in your care. It helps prepare you to continue caring with patience, compassion, humility, and grace.

Ask God to give you the grace and strength you need for this journey. Ask Him to help you see your loved one through the eyes of compassion rather than frustration or judgment. Remember that any one of us could find ourselves needing someone else to care for us. We would want to be treated with love, dignity, patience, and understanding.

My prayer is that after spending even two minutes inside this app, you will feel the peace of God surrounding you. I want you to remember that God loves you, God sees your heart, and God understands what you are carrying. He will give you the supernatural strength you need to walk through this season with your loved one.

Today, take one moment to care for yourself. Pause, breathe, pray, and receive the grace God is offering you.

You are seen. Your heart matters. God’s grace is surrounding you, and you do not have to make this journey in your own strength.

Reflection Question

How do I speak to myself when I fall short?

How are you feeling today?

Choosing a word is only for your own encouragement. Nothing here diagnoses you or is shared with anyone.

Do you need help right now?

If you are in danger, thinking of harming yourself, or facing a medical emergency, go straight to emergency resources. This does not post anything and does not take you to the community.
